Meet Lori

Hi!  I’m Lori. Thanks for being interested in our artisan cooking classes. My sister once commented that I must really love food, because I would work an 80 work week at the restaurant I helped create and then on my day off, I would dream up new recipes and cook all day!

The first book I remember buying was in the third grade from our bookmobile.  To be honest, I it is actually the first thing I ever remember buying… It was a cookbook on Healthy Desserts.  I guess I take after my mother.  Her cookbook collection is probably up to 400.  I have memories of being at mom’s side, watching her bake bread.  When she taught me to make angel food cake, mine always was a little “short,” due to the fact that I ate just a LITTLE before it went into the pan…

Although I finished culinary school at 24, I started a family shortly after I graduated and became a “Private Chef” of the unpaid variety.  I had been back in the professional culinary world for some time now, but consider myself a perpetual student - learning new skills, trying a new spin on recipes and always sharing with others.  I am happiest in the kitchen.  I find peace in the kitchen.

Now I love to run the bakery/cafe at The Kentucky Millstone. I love teaching classes, so that I can share the joy of cooking with others!

They say you learn best when you teach and boy, have I learned a lot.I had taught at the Artisan Bread Camp at MozzaPi, in Louisville, KY, for over 5 years. I moved from Louisville back to my hand-built log cabin and then opened the Kentucky Millstone. Our Cooking School is for sharing my passions for food with others.
